Myanmar: Naypyidaw [Video]

Effectively, Myanmar is ruled by fortune-tellers. Everybody follows their advice.

It’s said, that some years ago, such a fortune-teller told the Burmese military government of a possible foreign attack on their capital „Yangon“. The fortune-teller also forecasted a new capital to rise in Myanmar
– on November 6th 2005, at precisely 6:37 a.m.

So, in 2002, the military government began to create a new capital in the middle of nowhere – and in secrecy. The existence of this new mega-city was denied for a long time. On November 6th 2005, at 6:37 a.m., over 1000 military convoys moved the capital from Yangon to the new city of Naypyidaw.

For the Burmese people, the lively city of Yangon is still the only real capital of Myanmar. No one goes to Naypyidaw.

We did…

This is the last of a 7-chapter video journal full of crazy cities, amazing nature and unnecessary pathos. Oh, and spelling mistakes… 😉 I’ll publish them in the coming weeks in non-chronological order.
