That Puppet Game Show

As a Jim Henson fan, I finally watched „That Puppet Game Show“ – a television series where celebrities go head to head with games they play with puppets from the Henson company. I really like the idea and I also like the format as it reminds me a little bit of these senseless „birthday party“-like game shows I used to watch in the 80ies. It’s quite as anarchistic as Muppets used to be – at least more than compared to the rather lame family-oriented Muppets Disney produced during the last years.

Unfortunately, critics don’t seem to like the format as much. On imdb.com, it has a rating of just 4,7 out of 10. Personally, I don’t understand the criticism as the show is really pretty much delivering what it promises. It’s definitively not „The Muppet Show“ for Christ sakes – which would probably be the holy grail of pupeteering. But it’s typical Henson nonsense with a little bit of social criticism in it and celebrities making a fool out of themselves (which is probably pretty much the only thing you can do, when you act with puppets anyway, isn’t it?). Well, anyway, you can watch Episode 1 here for yourself:
